Now in its 12th year, the prestigious Greater Washington Technology CFO Awards recognize chief financial officers for extraordinary achievement and excellence in promoting the development of the Greater Washington region's technology community. An independent panel of community leaders will select the winners for each of the following four categories based on your nominations.


PUBLIC COMPANY CFO OF THE YEAR

Public Company CFO of the Year Presented to a Chief Financial Officer for outstanding contributions to his or her company's performance and accomplishments from January 2007 to the present. The Public Company CFO of the Year is:

  • A key contributor to strategy formulation
  • Acknowledged for credibility in rendering objective assessments, advice, and counsel to the board of directors, senior executives, and the financial community
  • An effective leader in financial aspects of operational execution supporting strategic direction
  • A confidant to the CEO
  • Adept at raising capital/cash management
  • An outstanding team builder
  • An extraordinary performer in difficult circumstances
  • Customer service oriented
  • Integral in major project implementation
  • A key player in mergers or acquisitions
  • An integral part of deal negotiations
  • Successful in heightening the company's public image


PRIVATE COMPANY CFO OF THE YEAR

Private Company CFO of the Year Presented to a Chief Financial Officer for outstanding contributions to his or her private company's performance and accomplishments from January 2007 to the present. For consideration, a company must have been privately held on or before December 31, 2007. The Private Company CFO of the Year is successful in leading the achievements and contributions consistent with the Public Company CFO of the Year award criteria as described herein.

DIVISION/GROUP CFO OF THE YEAR

Presented to a financial executive for outstanding contributions to his or her organization's performance and accomplishments from January 2007 to the present. For consideration, the individual must be the chief financial executive for a significant division or business unit that is located in the Greater Washington region and whose "parent company" is headquartered outside the region. The Division/Group CFO of the Year is successful in leading the achievements and contributions consistent with the Public Company CFO of the Year award criteria as described herein.



COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD

Presented to a financial executive or technology organization that has raised the bar for philanthropy,* or otherwise helped improve the quality of life, in the Greater Washington region, through any of the following:

  • Participating actively on community boards or committees
  • Donating significant time and intellectual capital to community organization(s), including academic organization(s)
  • Promoting technology interests in the public policy arena
  • Serve NOVA, Washington, MD companies
  • Personal time commitment
  • Personal effort leading an effort
  • Obvious heavy lifting
*(philanthropy: "enriching the community" or "commitment to the wider community" or "voluntary participation")







Your nomination will provide the basis for the Selection Committee's choice of award finalists. The most effective nominations will include a brief company description, a summary of the company's performance, highlights of the nominee's accomplishments during the period from January 2007 to the present, a letter from the CEO in support of the nominee and a detailed explanation of how the individual meets or surpasses the criteria.
